The Bay Hammock Company
Together with expert hammock weaver Lynn Sallans, the two women have built Canada's largest hammock! Sitting outside the brightly painted nautically-themed building, this 45 foot long hammock is a draw for both locals and visitors alike who want to get their photo taken in this unique piece of Nova Scotia!
The Bay Hammock Company is located on Route #333, also known as the Peggy's Cove Road, about 45 minutes by car from Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the small seaside village of Seabright. As Route #333 is a loop, many people drive from Halifax along the St. Margaret's Bay Road and turn onto Route #333 before they get to the highway.
This is a quaint rural road which leads you to Peggy's Cove, the iconic well-photographed lighthouse found in many scenes of Atlantic Canada. Leaving Peggy's Cove, turn left to continue along the other side of the loop on the same route. When you reach Seabright, The Bay Hammock Company will be on your left. With a colorful building and a giant hammock - Canada's largest! - in the yard, you can't miss it! The Bay Hammock Company was incorporated on November 4th, 2004. Michelle Taggart bought the business in the winter of 2013 and has excitedly learned the art of rope and hammock-making.
