Our History

Mr. Cyril Simard Ph.D., an architect and ethnologist, created la Fondation des Économusées du Québec in 1992. There are now 33 members in the Société ÉCONOMUSÉE^® du Québec.

In response to the widespread popularity of the ÉCONOMUSÉE concept, the fondation, now called the Société internationale du Réseau ÉCONOMUSÉE^®, began creating regional societies to promote the concept elsewhere in Canada, and to guide the development of artisans in their respective regions. The first of these regional societies was the Atlantic, founded in 1997.
